Best Colored Pencils for Adult Coloring Books

Best Colored Pencils for Adult Coloring BooksI found some of the best colored pencils for adult coloring books and they're sure to make your "color time" even MORE fun!

These five products had great ratings and reviews and come in a range of prices for every budget.

Colored pencils are not created equally.

Sure, it's just some wood and wax {or oil} but the quality of the color and the durability of the pencil are very important.

So I looked for packs of colored pencils that were durable and meant to last - and they HAD to color nicely on the paper!

Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, Soft Core, 72 Pack

Prismacolor Premier colored pencils are a top pick with colorists and for good reason. They're very good quality, they come in a range of colors and shades, and you can get smaller packs or larger ones. When you use one up, you can find single pencils online and simply replace the one you need.

These pencils get great reviews - the positive reviews are in the thousands - and are a joy to use on the page. The color goes on smoothly and blends well.

This pack of colored pencils from Castle Art Supplies is a little more budget-friendly. There are also 72 pencils in this pack but the price is a little lower.

These colored pencils are named and numbered, so you could also replace these easily and reviewers say they're creamy and soft to work with. 82% of reviewers gave this pencil kit 5 stars.

These are definitely in the "budget" category. 50 colored pencils come in a range of colors and reviewers say that they get the job done. Several people have said they're the best ones they've ever used, so they're not just for kids or beginners.

Crayola Signature Blend & Shade Soft Core Colored Pencils
Crayola Signature Blend & Shade Soft Core Colored Pencils

Crayola has leveled up their adult coloring pencils. These are known for their soft, wax/gel core and for being easy to shade and blend. While not "artist grade," they do a nice job and they're easy on the budget. The biggest complaint is that these don't have MORE colors. They do, however, have a nice range of colors and come in a 24- or 50-pack.

Arteza Coloring Pencils

These pencils get great reviews for having a nice, vibrant color {except for the black, which one reviewer said was not a TRUE black} and for laying smoothly down on the paper. Oddly, these don't come pre-sharpened to a fine point so you'll have to do that yourself.

A good amount of pencils at a good price. Some say these aren't as good as previous brands I've mentioned that you can get for just a few dollars more and others say they're as good or better.

However, for the price, you might consider adding them to your supplies if you are a beginner or simply want to expand your toolkit.
